Politics as Usual?

As Americans just voted in the recent US Presidential Election, let alone an important one, could this election cycle be our last? Ensemble in Process presents Politics as Usual?, an evening concert that will explore the complexity and various dynamics in the political atmosphere. Politics as Usual? will cover themes pertaining to social unrest, gun violence, news broadcasts, presidential corruption and peace activism.

Politics as Usual? will feature composed works by Brian Mark, Marcos Balter, Ruby Fulton and Frederic Rzewski, with performances and collaborations from Hugh Ash, Cole Bartels, Tessa Brinckman, Allyson Clare, David Friend, Ford Fourquerean, Brian Mark, Nick Pauly and Hikaru Tamaki.

Politics as Usual? is made possible by the New York  State Council on the Arts, which includes a new work by Brian mark specifically created for this event.

Ensemble in Visual Motion

Ensemble in Process finally makes its Chicago debut with a concert dedicated to works accompanied by visuals on screen, an homage to the art of Hollywood cinema: Ensemble in Visual Motion. Brian Mark (piano), Allyson Clare (violin/viola) debut their Midwestern collaborative tour with works by Brian Mark, Steve Reich, Ursula Kwong-Brown, Ian Dicke, Jonathan Hannau, and Anuj Bhutani, with collaborations of Chicago based flautist Robin Meiksins and visual artist Aespyne Alix.

Processing the Supernatural

Ensemble in Process will have its next live event at The Cell Theatre, NYC on 26 October, 2023 at 8pm. Just in time for the Halloween holiday, Processing the Supernatural will be concert of works with themes pertaining to the paranormal. Works to be performed by Katharine Balch, Tessa Brinckman, Erik Satie, Juhi Bansal, Missy Mazzoli, and yours truly. Processing the Supernatural will feature performance collaborations by Tessa Brinckman, Allyson Clare, Rose Hegele, Mithuna Sivaraman, Tarun Bellur, Hikaru Tamaki, and Brian Mark.

A Face in the Crowd

"A Face in the Crowd" explores the tension between the solitary struggle of individuals and the anonymous and enormous crowds in which they live. The pieces tell the stories of prisoners, commuters, isolated fiddlers, activists, Vaux's swifts and monsters. Flutist Tessa Brinckman, violinist/violist Allyson Clare, trombonist Taylor Alan Peterson and myself perform works by Meredith Monk, Tessa Brinckman, Olivier Messiaen, Ted Hearne, Randy Woolf and Brian Mark accompanied by digital audio, and videos by Brian Mark, Miles Inada and Devyn McConachie.

Ensemble in Visual Motion will be its second thematic performance here in NYC, after the debut event in Los Angeles from May 17, 2022.
